I realized pins and plastic pants were a thing of the past
 One of our favorite advances in cloth diapering is the Snappi Diaper Fastener, which eliminates the need for diaper pins and speeds up diaper changes.

When I had my first son I lived in Savannah, GA and cloth diapering was almost taboo! I hadn't even thought of doing it because I had heard horror stories from my mom about prefolds, diaper pins, laundry, clotheslines, and those awful plastic pants that go on top of it all.
When I got pregnant with my second child, a girl, we decided that my husband had to earn more money or else we were going to go under, so the job search began. There was no work in Savannah, so we ended up in Atlanta where I met lots of different people and became friends with them all. You should have seen the cloth diapers that all of these women had!! There were so many different types and materials, for goodness sake; there are even ones that looked like puppies (starbunz)... which I have since gotten!!
I realized that pins and plastic pants were in the past and there was a new wonderful world that I had never realized before, I was in love. Then I saw the cost of some of these and wondered if I could really do this, but we started talking about all of the chemicals involved in disposable diapers and I took my son, who had always worn disposables, out immediately. I looked up different patterns and tried my hand at my own, which I am proud to say look great. I realized that I did not need PUL or any other type of plastic material because I can crochet. I started making wool soakers, shorties, skirties, and longies for my little one, as well as leggings to wear with them so that I can show off her little bottom.
I also started making fitteds out of prefolds, or just using my Snappi diaper fastener with a prefold diaper under her wool covers. I am now making some for friends and trying to get my relatives into this. I love my new found world!! Thank you for letting me share my story
