Cloth Diaper Folding - Angel Wing Fold with Snappi Fastener
When it comes to cloth diapering, we have found Chinese Prefolds are incorporated into just about every cloth diapering system we design for our customers. For efficiency, durability, absorption and ease, you'd be hard-pressed to find a diaper that can out-work a Chinese Prefold.
The multiple layers of a Chinese Prefold are sewn in pre-folded panels, with the thickest panel running where it's most needed; right down the center wet zone. Although the name causes slight confusion to first-time cloth diapering parents or guardians, these cloth diapers do not come fully prefolded for use. Instead there are a few recommended cloth diaper folds you can use to wrap this soft absorbency around your baby.
One of our most popular ways to fold Chinese Prefolds is the Angel Fold. The Angel Fold works particularly well with wrap-style cloth diaper covers. But what if you want to use a different style cover? Below we'll show you how to secure the Angel Fold with a snappi diaper fastener; this allows for you to use the diaper cover style of your choice, but still have the cloth diaper comfortably secured around baby's waist and thighs.
Angel Fold with a Snappi Diaper Fastener
1.You will need one Chinese Prefold and one Snappi diaper fastener. Lay your Chinese Prefold straight and flat in front of you, with the serged ends showing at the top and bottom.

2. Take the bottom serged-edge of the prefold and fold it up towards the top serged edge (usually about 1/3 the height of the prefold). If using a diaper doubler for additional absorption, lay it in the middle of the chinese prefold before folding the bottom serged edge upwards.
3. Then, create create a "V" shape by drawing the folded bottom, left-hand corner over to the middle and then repeating it again by drawing the folded bottom, right-hand corner across to the left. See right image below.

4. A popular cloth diaper accessory to this system is the stay dry liner or the fleece topped doubler. Both will ensure that urine wicks through the fleece, keeping baby's sensitive skin dry to the touch. The fleece topped doubler will offer a bit more absorption at the same time.
5. Lay baby atop the prefold diaper so that the top serged edge is right at the baby's waistline in the back. Then bring the Chinese Prefold up towards the baby's waistline through the legs. At this time, you can adjust the rise by letting out some of the fold on the left or right in the front.

6. After the prefold is adjusted to the baby, bring the back corners or "wings" of the Chinese Prefold to meet with the part pulled up to baby's waistline in the front. Holding the two "wings" down with one hand, grab ahold of a Snappi Diaper Fastener with the other hand. Press the plastic "teeth" down into the diaper, anchoring it into the woven fibers, on one of the "wings" you just pulled around the side of baby.

7. Holding the Snappi taunt, pull the adjacent, unattached Snappi "leg" across the prefold diaper (just below the waist) to grab hold of the cloth diaper wing on the other side. Now the Snappi should be firmly secured into both the left and right wings.

8. With the left and right legs of the Snappi anchored to the top wings, draw the 3rd and final leg of the Snappi down between baby's legs and when taunt, anchor securely in the Chinese Prefold.

9. You do not have to press hard to secure the Snappi. When you pull the legs taunt and press down the plastic "teeth" into the cloth diaper, the snappi diaper fastener will grab at the fibers, securing itself.

This cloth diaper fold allows for you to select from a variety of cloth diaper covers. For a lightweight, breathable, economical pull-on pant, try the Bummis Whisper Pant. This fold also works well with the Aristocat Wool Soaker for night-time diapering.
